Major in Visual Arts

This major is thought for students that want to orient their career in the contemporary art, heritage and museum fields. Managers and professionals working in this field have a deep understanding and appreciation of the complexity of artistic creation and dissemination. The major is therefore interdisciplinary in nature combining perspectives derived from different disciplines such as arts theory, management studies, policy studies, cultural economics, sociology of art. Students choosing this major orient their career towards organizations such as arts galleries, auctions and arts related business (i.e.: insurance, exhibition, art transport), museums, archaeological and heritage sites, library and archives; or as consultants and experts for governments, banks or business firms interested  in sponsoring, promoting and investing in contemporary arts and in the heritage.

The major structure includes 2 compulsory workshops, 2 workshops chosen by the student and 2 elective courses chosen among all the elective courses of the Bocconi Master of Science programs. The two compulsory Major workshops are:

> Major workshop 1: Contemporary Art Markets and Systems (1) Foundations

> Major workshop 2: Contemporary Art Markets and Systems (2) Global Economics

> Major workshop 3: 1 workshop chosen from a short list (made up of all 3 and 4 workshops, open to all MSc students)
