Budo & Business
Martial arts and professional communication
There are many similarities between BUDO , the world of Japanese martial arts, and the world of business: marketing, sales, competition, and management models.
Just think of concepts such as target awareness, speed, timing, balance, determination, competitor study, competitive strategy and tactics, and responsiveness in stressful or dangerous situations.
Or to values such as perseverance, commitment, courage, fairness, loyalty and respect for the opponent.
Objectives:
- offer students a tool to consolidate personal and interpersonal skills: emotional solidity, ability to read situations and interpersonal dynamics, choose conflict management strategy and tactics, well beyond the basic attack/defense stereotype
- identify the logic of studying the interlocutor according to the metaphor of martial culture
- experience the dynamics of interaction first in a physical way, then with a conceptual arrangement
The method: practice first, then theory
Day 1: On Friday afternoon, after a very brief introduction that determines the context and the training pact, we begin with a practical session (physical exercise), about an hour and a half long. A short refreshment break, and then in another hour and a few we go through decoding and systematizing "hot" the experience made.
Previous knowledge of martial arts is not required.
Day 2: The next morning (Saturday), students are guided to read the lesson as a metaphor and a glimpse of the climate of a professional organization: stages of reorganization and change, control of advantage over competition, strategies and stratagems, recovery of lost positions, attention and waiting, study of special initiatives, study of the main human resistances and useful stratagems to overcome them, etc.
With the delicacy of an art, with the precision of a method, with the effectiveness of a very impressive performance.
Instructor for the course: Alessandro Lucchini, linguist, black belt 5th dan and karate instructor
Required clothing: comfortable (e.g., sweatpants and sneakers) + a change of clothes, for Friday. Usual for Saturday.
