Course summary

This course introduces the key concepts, tools, and principles of strategy analysis and formulation. It is concerned with managerial decisions and actions that affect the performance and survival of business enterprises. The course is focused on the information, analyses, organizational processes, and skills managers must use to devise strategies, position their businesses, define firm boundaries and maximize long-term profits in the face of uncertainty and competition. We will apply the tools of strategy analysis to real business situations through case studies, examples, and our own experiences.

Learning Objectives: The course will start to shape your effectiveness as a future business leader through developing your insight into the sources of competitive advantage, encouraging your creativity in generating strategy options for a business, and improving your judgement in making strategic decisions. We also intend that, through the interactive format of this course, you will develop your communication skills and your effectiveness in group situations.

Course Material : Slides and cases will be provided via e-learning platform.

Assessment Methods: Friendly qualitative feedback will be given based on the individual class participation and final presentations by small groups.

The course is an introduction to our University’s interactive and hands-on approach to teaching the BSc in International Economics and Management.
