EPM European Project Management

BE CAREFUL: Starting from September 2023 the new EPM Knowledge version with Syllabus 3.0 (standard UNI ISO 21502:2021) will be released. It will be possible to sit the EPM Knowledge exam with Syllabus 2.0 only until the July exam session. Further details about the new exam program will be published soon.

The EPM Fundamentals certification is an update to the previous ePMQ certification and it certifies the knowledge of project management as well as the skills related to the use of Microsoft Project, i.e. a software for managing projects.

Syllabus

In order to obtain the certification, it is necessary to pass two modules:

• EPM Knowledge
• EPM Ability

The EPM Knowledge module deals with Project Management techniques and tests the fundamental skills required to manage projects in institutions and companies.

The EPM Ability module introduces the use of Microsoft Project, which is a project management software.

All of the steps to follow to obtain the certification are listed below.

1. Purchase EPM Skills Card and exams

First, you have to pay for an EPM Certification fee, which includes a Skills Card and two exams.

In case you need to retake an exam or you already have an EPM Skills Card, you can pay just for one exam.

The online payment procedure for Bocconi students is available on the yoU@B Diary by clicking on “Buy products” in the “IT Certifications” box.

Please note that, currently, we do not accept registrations from external users.

2. Register for the exams

After the purchase:

BOCCONI STUDENTS can register through their yoU@B Diary by clicking on “Register for ICDL Advanced and EPM exams” in the “IT Certifications” box and following the instructions.

It is also possible to modify or cancel existing registrations. The purchased modules will be available again for other exam sessions. Please note that registrations for EPM exams and any modifications or cancellations are only possible until 11:59 PM on the Thursday of the week prior to the chosen date.

3. Get ready for the exam

Among IT Education Center supplementary activities there is a “Project management with Office” course. The course is free for Bocconi students, who can register through the yoU@B Diary. External users wishing to take part can pay for the course fee through the online procedure available here.

The following books (in Italian only) are recommended for exam preparation:

• EPM Knowledge: Marco Arcuri, Project management: conoscenze, abilità e soft skill secondo le norme UNI ISO 21500 e UNI 11648, Tangram Edizioni Scientifiche
• EPM Ability: Nuova ECDL - Project Planning (MSProject2013), AICA

A sample test for EPM Ability module is also available for download from www.aicanet.it/epm.

4. Take the exams

Tests include both theoretical and practical questions on Microsoft Project 2016. Each exam lasts 45 minutes. Further information is available on AICA’s website www.aicanet.it/epm (Italian only).

EPM exams take place in room 304 in via Gobbi 5 (third floor). Candidates should turn up at least 10 minutes before the exam begins. If a candidate arrives late, the examiner will be allowed to exclude him/her from the examination session.

5. Exam result

You will be able to check the outcome of the exam in your private area on the AICA website.

To access your private area, connect to the page: www.aicanet.it (only in Italian) and click REGISTER on the top right. On the next page select: REGISTER AS A CANDIDATE and fill out the form, selecting from the certification menu: ICDL. Then enter your skills card number into the dedicated section (do not enter IT-).

6. Obtain the EPM certificate

Once you have passed the exams, the EPM Fundamentals certificate will be sent in .pdf format to your Bocconi email address. External users will receive the certificate at the email address provided throughout the online payment procedure.

With the EPM Fundamentals certificate, candidates gain access to the optional EPM Professional module. For further information, please visit AICA’s website (https://www.aicanet.it/epm) (Italian only)

7. Conversion of ePMQ Skills Card and exams

Those who have already started taking ePMQ tests, yet have not completed the certification, can request free conversion of their ePMQ Skills Card into an EPM Skills Card.

Similarly, those who have already passed ePMQ modules can convert them free-of-charge into EPM Fundamentals modules, in order to complete the certification and obtain the EPM Fundamentals certificate.

The ePMQ-EPM correspondence is as follows:

• ePMQ Fundamentals  -> EPM Knowledge
• ECDL Project Planning - > EPM Ability

EPM ONLINE EXAMS (ONLY FOR BOCCONI STUDENTS) — SUSPENDED

Please read carefully the following information before signing up for the EPM exams online.

Technical requirements for attending EPM ONLINE exams:

1) being equipped with a PC with Microsoft Windows 7, 8.X or 10. It is not possible to perform EPM exams with tablets/smartphones or Mac operating system.
2) having installed 2010/2013/2016/2019 or 365 Microsoft Office versions in order to carry out the Office modules. Also check that the installed Office package is configured in the same exam language (italian or english). 
3) having installed the Microsoft Teams application (it is strongly recommended to download the application instead of accessing Teams in web mode);
4) having a functioning camera installed on the PC for the entire duration of the exam (the webcam can be integrated or external);
5) having an ADSL/fiber (recommended) internet connection;
6) being ready to show the Bocconi badge or a valid identity document.

Before registering for the exams through the yoU@B agenda, it is essential to carefully check that your PC has the characteristics listed above.
Before taking one or more exams (on a single or different days) it will also be essential to install the AICE program on your PC and carry out an AICE DEMO session. In order to do it, every student enrolled in the exam sessions will receive an email at his Bocconi email address containing instructions on how to install the AICE program (Aice Agent and Aice Monitor) and credentials (username and password) to launch the AICE DEMO. Tha AICE DEMO is mandatory and has to be completed by 2.30 pm on the day before the exam date.
The AICE DEMO must be completed only once by each candidate (the first time). From the second session or for any repetition it will not be necessary to repeat it.

Take EPM exam online

Before each exam, each student will receive at its Bocconi email address, an invitation to access the exam session (through Microsoft Teams) and the credentials (one for each module to be taken) to access the exam.

At the scheduled day and time, students will have to log into Microsoft and to keep their credentials and the Bocconi badge/identity document with them.

Please note: the instructions and emails are sent to students on the Friday that precedes the exam.

Please note

The ITEC Staff and the examiner can not check the characteristics of the student's PC or provide technical support before and/or during the exam.

In the event that the student's PC does not work for reasons cannot be attributed to ITEC (internet connection or lack of one or more indispensable features) the exam will be lost and cannot be recovered.
