Internships and Covid-19, What Has Changed

The University has adopted actions to support internship experiences (in Italy and outside Italy) during the emergency period due to Covid-19.

These measures concern new internship minimum durations and modalities.
The timing requirement does not change: curricular internships for credits, carried out remotely, in blended modality or in person, must comply with the correct timing and cannot overlap the period dedicated to class attendance, even if in distance or blended, and the time dedicated to study.

The procedure for activating, modifying and recognizing an internship can be found on the website Internship pages.

For any information not included on this page, please contact the Internship Office through Help&Contact (yoU@B Student Diary) only

The following measures will be in force until 31/12/2022.

If tested positive for Covid-19

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 DURING AN INTERNSHIP
Here below are some operational indications on how to proceed in case of you will be personally involved or came into direct contact with a person tested positive for Covid-19 with respect to the managing of an internship.
Please, be aware that the Host institution must treat you exactly as one of its workers and that Covid-19 security protocol (Protocollo aziendale prevenzione Covid-19) must applies to you as well.

If you are tested positive for Covid-19 during the internship
If the internship is taking place in presence or in blended modality (presence/distance), and your health conditions allow it, it is possible to continue the internship remotely without any interruptions during the isolation period.

If your health conditions do not allow a remote internship, it is possible to temporarily suspend it, and the Host institution can recover the suspension with an extension.
If you came across with people of the Host institution, actions must be taken in accordance with Covid-19 security protocol (Protocollo aziendale prevenzione Covid-19); in fact, we remind you that you have to be treated exactly as one of the Host institution’s workers, with respect to health and safety in the workplace

If you are tested positive for Covid-19 and you are not able to start the internship
It is possible to start the internship remotely, if your health conditions allow it and, eventually, to continue the internship in presence. If your health conditions do not allow it, it is possible to postpone the start of the internship.

If you are undergoing a quarantine period because you came into close contact with a person tested positive for Covid-19
If the internship is taking place in presence or in blended modality, it is possible to switch to a remote internship until the end of the quarantine period.

If you are undergoing a quarantine period because you are awaiting to be tested
Also in this case, depending on your health conditions, it is possible to continue the internship remotely, without any suspensions, or to suspend it for the necessary time.

Important:
Remind your Host institution that suspensions and changes to the internship modalities must be:
1. notified by the Host institution through JobGate, in the “My internships” area, “Status variation” section, as soon as possible;
2. confirmed by you;
3. approved by the University.
