Community and Social Engagement
Università Bocconi began, was founded and was developed based on a solid and ample value system. Among these values, topics such as pluralism of cultures and ideas, the principles of an open society, social responsibility, moral integrity, a culture of legality, solidarity, balance and social mobility.
Our University therefore believes it can contribute to supporting Italy’s economic growth and Italy in Europe, encouraging our youth to put themselves to the test and endowing them with the intellectual, ethical and social capital needed to face new challenges and become tomorrow’s leaders of society.
Professional, civil and moral aspects therefore cannot be separated, as low growth in the Italian economy in recent years has demonstrated – this is the result of not only economic and structural choices but also choices generated by values, attitudes and beliefs that impede the proper functioning of a market economy in a rule of law and the proper functioning of public institutions in a liberal democracy.
This is why, in keeping with its history, Università Bocconi recognizes social engagement and responsibility as values that are integral to its institutional identity. The University also believes it is important to offer students, faculty and staff support regarding this issue, not only by providing opportunities for reflection, but also by assisting them in concrete undertakings. This creates an academic environment in which the ethical and social values expressed by the entire Bocconi community are palpable and shared by everyone.
Based on this social commitment, the Community and Social Engagement project is being launched, with the aim of contributing to the personal development of the students, faculty and staff that make up the Bocconi community. The project focuses both on advancing issues related to social responsibility within the Bocconi community and making what is already present in this area more visible.
In part due to the development of collaborations with local organizations and civil society, Università Bocconi aims to make use of the Community and Social Engagement project to:
- Offer innovative academic initiatives aimed at including social values in University activities, like the Dai un senso al profitto project.The initiative represents a way of offering participant students the opportunity to approach the job market through hands-on experience, in which economic competence is combined with creating social impact.
