Trams, Buses and Underground

Public Transport (1)

In Milan, buses, trams and metro (underground) trains are run by the same company, ATM. Ordinary tickets must be purchased in advance and can be obtained at Metro stations, from bars (Tabacchi) or news-stands.

Tickets are valid for 90 minutes from the time they are stamped.
You may use your ticket for only one subway (metro) ride. The metro system consists of 4 lines - M1(red), M2 (green), M3 (yellow) and M5 (lilac). There is also a blue line, the "passante ferroviario" which is not an underground (it is a railway), but might be used as such with the same ticket in the urban tracts.
