In 2022 Bocconi University and the SDA Bocconi School of Management embarked on a process for the definition of the University’s decarbonization plan, with the aim of formalizing what has already been achieved, quantifying the other indirect emissions (so-called Scope 3) related to the University’s activities (e.g. purchase of goods and services; movement of students, faculty and staff; emissions from investment goods; and waste management), and define a carbon neutrality path with objectives, targets and timing of achievement.
The decarbonization plan adopted by Bocconi University foresees achieving carbon neutrality (direct Scope 1 and indirect Scope 2 emissions) by 2025 and subsequently focusing on the Net Zero target, including all other main indirect emissions.
In addition, the activation of the University’s certification process for the calculation of its carbon footprint, according to the ISO 14064-1 standard, will be completed by 2023.The new Bocconi campus area is already carbon neutral for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
