Riccardo Taranto

Born in Genoa on March 11, 1958, married with children. From March 2013 to June 2018 he held the role of CFO of RCS Mediagroup, with responsibility for all activities of Finance, M&A , IR and the Legal and Corporate Affairs of the RCS Group, and was also first Chief Executive Officer and then Chairman of RCS Sport (the company that organizes the Giro d'Italia and other sporting events) and a director of RCS Libri (until the sale to the Group Mondadori) and Unidad Editorial SA, El Mundo, Marca and Expansiòn publishing company in Spain.

He graduated in Business Administration (Economics of Industrial Companies) at Bocconi University in Milan in 1981 and from Co. P.A.S. (Course Planning and Strategic Analysis) at the SDA Bocconi in 1985.
From 1981 to 1987 he held several roles in the Accounting and Planning and Control area of Honeywell Information Systems Italia, while from 1987 to 1990 he was Controller of the Recurrence Division at Alivar SpA (Motta-Alemagna).
Subsequently, from 1990 to 1996 he held the role of Controller at Roche S.p.A. and in 1995 he was a member of the international team for the study and implementation of the SAP project of the Roche Group, working for over 6 months in the United States and the United Kingdom, leading the implementation of SAP Finance modules in the Italian subsidiary.
From June 1996 to February 2000 he assumed the role of Controller of the Photonics BU at Pirelli Cables and Systems and then of its related companies (Italy, France, Germany, USA); subsequently until 2002 he held the same tasks in Cisco Systems after the acquisition of Pirelli Photonics activities by the American group.
In 2002 he joined the Telecom Italia Group as CFO IT Mercato (Finsiel Group) and then became Group Controller of the Telecom Italia Group in the same year, a position held for about 6 years.
From 2008 to 2011 he was Chief Accounting Officer of Telecom Italia, and again within Telecom he later assumed the role of Group Compliance Officer.
He was Chief Financial Officer of the Prelios Group from November 2011 to February 2013, with further responsibilities for the Finance aspects of the IT and Purchasing areas, before moving to RCS.
