The Bocconi Community Fighting Covid-19

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff,
Dear Alumni,

Just under a week has passed since we launched our fundraising campaign for two major initiatives to combat the Covid-19 emergency. And in so short a time, thanks to the generosity of our community, we have already raised over 50,000 euros which have been added to the 200,000 euros donated by our University.

Donations in favor of the Lombardy Region - Coronavirus Emergency and the Mutual Aid Fund of the Municipality of Milan, came from all members of the large Bocconi family, faculty, students, alumni and staff, from all over Italy and the world.

We therefore want to thank each of you who have so generously joined this important initiative, displaying the values of ethics and solidarity that Bocconi has in its DNA. We want to thank the faculty and staff members who donated a percentage of their salary, and we thank the students, student associations and alumni who have given generously through the iGive platform.

Any amount, large or small, is important to support the doctors, nurses and all the staff who work tirelessly day and night to treat citizens and defeat Covid-19. Contributions will also help the Milanese businesses and people in need to make it through the current situation and subsequently resume the normal activities of our city.

This is why we have set ourselves an ambitious goal: to quickly reach 300,000 euros. We therefore ask you to share this message, or simply the link to the iGive platform (https://giving.unibocconi.it/projects/coronavirus-bocconi-beside-lombardy) with your friends, your contacts, your colleagues and anyone who can contribute to helping the Lombardy Region and the Municipality of Milan to win this important battle for our future.

Together, thanks to the generosity and the safe, responsible behavior of each of us, we will be able to overcome this challenge!

18 March - Message from the Rector and the Managing Director

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Alumni,

Solidarity can do so much in moments like these. The responsible and concrete actions of each of us are fundamental elements that can help us win this battle together.

Many initiatives are already underway across our country, and we at Bocconi have decided to provide strong support on two crucial fronts: the medical emergency and the recovery of our beloved Milan. Our efforts are aimed at helping the hospital facilities and the medical and nursing staff on the front line, and at providing a stimulus for the prompt return to normality of our city, the region and Italy as a whole, so that available resources are directed where the need is greatest.

Bocconi as an institution has therefore already donated a total of 200,000 euros, divided equally between the Lombardy Region - Coronavirus Emergency Support and the City of Milan - Mutual Aid Fund of the Municipality of Milan. The first supports health facilities, doctors, nurses and all staff who are currently engaged in a terrible struggle to treat citizens and defeat Covid-19. The donation will contribute to the extraordinary purchases of supplies, such as masks, protective suits, disinfectants and tools necessary for better treatment and prevention. The second is intended to aid those in Milan who face the greatest difficulties during the current situation and, subsequently, to support the resumption of city activities.

Below are links to the two initiatives we have chosen to support from among many, after consulting local institutions:

In addition, we have made the properties we are not currently using available to the Lombardy Region, should they serve to contain contagion.

The entire Academic Council and all our Dirigenti have decided to donate 5% of this month's gross salary to the two fundraisers.

We invite each of you, members of our Faculty and Staff, to join this important initiative: you too can donate a percentage of one month's gross salary. Please use the attached form to make your donation.

As regards Students and Alumni, a special collection has been opened on the iGive platform to join a donation fund that will be made to the two initiatives indicated above, on behalf of Bocconi University.

Finally, we remind you that direct donation of protective supplies (e.g. masks, gloves, disinfectant gel, etc.) is also possible through the Lombardy Region to hospitals, which are engaged in this battle in conditions of serious difficulty. In this regard, we would like to mention the numerous supplies that are coming above all from our Alumni in Shanghai and across China and which we are conveying to the Lombardy Region.

We thank you warmly for the support you give to this initiative. We will provide you with timely information by communicating the full amount donated. We are confident that in this case, like many others, the Bocconi community will again be an example of cohesion and strength, and make a tangible contribution to overcoming the ongoing emergency.
