New Sustainable Campus
The new Bocconi Urban Campus was created with the aim of guaranteeing students, researchers and faculty with optimal conditions for work and study, aligned with the standards of the best international universities. It includes the Castiglioni Residence, the new headquarters of the SDA Bocconi School of Management and a sports/recreation center open to the city.
The Campus expansion was designed according to biocompatibility and eco-sustainability criteria, the first of its kind in Italy. Its design follows innovative principles focused on safety, maximum exploitation of sunlight, reduction of noise pollution and waste prevention.
The high environmental standards of the new area of the Campus are achieved through:
- the use of the latest generation building materials, in order to guarantee high energy performance of the building complex
- the development of a heating and cooling system based on the use of water from the Milanese aquifer and Ticinello canal
- 1.2 MW of photovoltaic panels that will be installed on the roofs of the buildings, for self-sufficient energy consumption
