Biosafety Policy

Focus on

As part of our Your Safety Matters responsible approach and to further guarantee the protection of the health and safety of staff, faculty and students, in 2020 Bocconi University was the first University in Italy to implement a voluntary management system (the Biosafety Trust Certification). Its aim is to ensure the highest requirements for infection prevention and control and management of health emergencies.

Three years after this important achievement, Bocconi has decided to renew its commitment by maintaining the Biosafety Trust Certification Management System and reaffirming its aim to:

  1. use the experience gained in the context of the Sars CoV 2 epidemic to generate skills, management ability and excellent operational practices, consistent with our mission and values;
  2. continue to guarantee the entire Bocconi community our maximum commitment to the adoption of best practices aimed at preventing the spread of infections during teaching activities and events that take place on campus, as well as all administrative and operational support activities.

For this reason, Bocconi’s commitment is to:

  • submit the Biosafety Trust Certification management system annually to the verification of an independent third-party body ;
  • periodically verify the effectiveness, adequacy and degree of application of the infection prevention and control management system;
  • constantly update the levels of infection risk prevention and protection, in full compliance with all applicable legislation and ensure that all activities are carried out in a climate of safety and trust for the Bocconi community;
  • provide staff, faculty and students with all the necessary support to face any health emergency with awareness, ensuring the continuity of institutional activities;
  • create and maintain a widespread level of knowledge and awareness that facilitates and promotes the adoption of responsible and safe collective and individual behaviors;
  • establish codes of conduct for key service providers by promoting their coordination and collaboration;
  • communicate effectively with all stakeholders, according to their priorities and needs;
  • as a gathering hub for a community of over 15,000 people, collaborate as needed with city institutions for the definition of best practices;
  • maintain our role in promoting and disseminating culture, adapting the offer of meetings and public events to the most effective infection prevention and control measures.

The above commitments constitute the reference framework for periodically identifying improvement objectives and planning the actions necessary to achieve them.
