Conditions and Procedures for Student Loans for Master and MBA Programs
Master and MBA Programs
Students who have applied for admission to a Master or MBA program are eligible to apply for a student loan. Final granting of the loan will be decided after an evaluation by the bank. Master students can apply for a loan from Banca Popolare di Milano and/or Banca Intesa San Paolo while MBA students can only apply for a loan from Banca Popolare di Milano.
How to apply
After completing the application form on the Bocconi website, the loan application will be sent to the appropriate bank. The loan request must be received no later than the end of the month following the beginning of the Master or MBA program. The Bocconi Student Administration Centre, or the office of applicant's chosen Master of MBA program, will review the application to confirm admission.
Loan disbursement
After students have received approval for their loan, they must finalize the loan by:
1. Enrolling in the Master or MBA program
2. Paying the first tuition installment (Please note: this payment must be made before receiving any loan funds)
Once students have completed these two steps, they will take a letter provided by the secretary of their master program to their lending bank in order to receive their loan. A student may freely use a line of credit only after they have paid the entire tuition balance for their master program.
Students who are beneficiaries of financial assistance such as scholarships and tuition waivers are eligible for loans. However, the allocation of the loan may be reduced or divided into more than one installment after a non-negotiable decision by the bank.
Loans approved for Master and MBA programs have to be confirmed by the following dates:
International students
For International students a signed guarantee by a physical or legal person residing in Italy or a presentation letter deemed acceptable by Università Bocconi. For example, a presentation letter by the director of the bank where the student or his/her family have an account in the student's home country, or by the Rector or a Professor of the university where the student graduated. Students are required to supply the company e-mail and phone number of the guarantor or signatory of the presentation letter. Non-EU students can apply only to Banca Popolare di Milano and are eligible for a loan covering up to 60% of the program's tuition, with a maximum of 30.000.
Eligible Master Programs
To view a list of eligible Master programs, click "Application Online," then go to "Registration Form," and click "Select a Master." The list of eligible Master programs for loan funding will be shown here.
Financing may also be requested for the EMMS Post-Experience Master. For EMMS, the maximum amount available for funding for Italian and non-Italian students is 50% of the total cost of the Master program.
Each Master and MBA program has a maximum amount of loan funding available for the class each year, so students in need of loan assistance are encouraged to apply early.
