Why did you choose to study at Universita Bocconi?
My choice to study at Universita Bocconi was largely motivated by its excellent reputation as one of Europes leading institutions, its multicultural environment, and the international opportunities offered. I soon visited the University and felt that Milan would be a stimulating context in which to live and that Bocconis urban campus fit nicely the dynamic nature of the city. Given the renowned quality of the education offered and the multicultural environment I was sure to find here, I made my final decision to undertake my undergraduate studies at Universita Bocconi.
What were the best elements of your academic experience?
Two factors greatly marked my academic experience. The international student body was one of these and greatly contributed to our learning and to the cultural exchange we experienced. Having students from all over the world in one class contributed in a positive sense to class discussions and group works, where each student would bring his unique point of view based on his previous experiences and background. Another significant factor was the diversified nature of my degree. While maintaining the focus in our core subjects, which were those in Management and Economics, we also had a number of classes in Law and Political Economics, and could chose from a wide range of electives such as in-depth finance courses or international relations. This fundamental element allowed me to receive a solid preparation in my core classes, while at same time widening my perspective through other related subjects.
Why would you recommend your experience with Bocconi programs?
I would recommend Universita Bocconi to anyone who is looking for a high class education in a European context and in a stimulating international environment. The level of scholarship is maintained through a commitment to excellence and through the research possibilities offered at the University. There are also important partnerships and ties that Universita Bocconi holds with the Business world, such as fairs that bring companies to Bocconi and that allow students to better understand the job opportunities that exist.
Tell us something about your exchange/internship experience?
During my undergraduate studies I was involved in both the exchange program and in doing an internship. I went as an exchange student to Goteborg University in Sweden in the first semester of my third year of studies. My choice to spend four months in Sweden was motivated by my desire to deepen my knowledge of Scandinavia and it was definitely an excellent opportunity to do some traveling! Right before beginning my exchange, I spent the summer working as an intern at the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization headquarters in Rome. This was fundamental for me to gain a practical perspective on International Affairs, which is my area of interest, and to understand and gain sensibility towards the complexity of the work done in international organizations.
What are the pros and cons of Bocconi's urban campus located in the center of Milano?
One of the pros of Bocconis urban campus is certainly its location at the heart of Milan, easily accessible to the center of town and with a number of practical shops, bars, and restaurants nearby. However, notwithstanding its urban character, Bocconi is situated right next to a friendly park, which especially in the springtime is the ideal place to relax during breaks, read, or have lunch in between classes.
Can you tell us about your plans and prospects for the future? Do you think Bocconi's studies will help you throughout your career?
My plan is to undertake a two-year Masters program in International Relations and my future career ambition is to work with Foreign Policy. I will most likely be choosing between a European University and one in the U.S. In either case, I am confident that the solid background I have received in International Economics at Universita Bocconi and the cultural experience I have acquired by studying in Europe will be fundamental for my future studies and career path.
