Why did you choose to study at Università Bocconi?
When making the decision where to study my undergraduate degree I considered several universities around Europe but at the end of the day I was clearly convinced by the unique structure of the DIEM degree and obviously appealed by the experience of studying and living in Milan. The European/International setup and diversity of the degree that seamlessly mingles with the Italian culture and way of life were the key reasons for me to study at Bocconi.
What were the best elements of your academic experience?
What I appreciated most while studying at Bocconi was the broad range of topics covered by the DIEM degree as well as the high teaching quality paired with the proximity to professors and their open-minded attitude that often stimulated intriguing discussion in class or even outside the lecture room. Besides that, I particularly enjoyed the motley composition of the DIEM class and all interesting experiences associated with the variety of students.
Tell us something about your exchange experience?
While studying DIEM, I took the chance to participate in the Bocconi exchange program and spent almost six month at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Vancouver, Canada. The biggest advantage of the exchange is its full integration with the Bocconi degree which allows the students to still master the Bachelor degree in three years. Honestly, I had a jolly good time and benefited a lot from living and learning in a different setting and atmosphere. Going abroad is all about breaking new grounds and that's why I would always do it again and recommend to other students too.
Can you tell us about your plans and prospects for the future? Do you think Bocconi's studies will help you throughout your career?
After my graduation in summer 2006 I decided to start my career in the consulting business and so I am now working for a leading consulting firm in one of its German offices in Munich. So far this seems to be the right choice for me and therefore I plan stay some more time with this company before heading for a Master/MBA program. And about Bocconi's impact? On a European scale it is definitely advantageous to hold a degree from a renowned university and you will wonder how many people outside Italy know about Bocconi or how far-reaching its community is.
