Secondary school diploma requirements a.y. 2012-2013

Candidates that completed their secondary school education in a non-Italian high school, please keep the following Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research mandatory regulations in mind when applying :
  1. to be admitted to an Italian university, applicants must possess a diploma from abroad equivalent to an Italian secondary school diploma (maturità) which is recognized by Italian authorities, or the maturità diploma itself;

  2. to be considered valid, the diploma must be translated and legalized by the Italian embassy or consulate in the country where the diploma was issued, regardless of the school's actual location. For example, the diploma of a German school which is located in France must be validated by the Italian consulate in Germany. The embassy or consulate will provide a declaration of value for the diploma;

  3. the foreign diploma must be obtained at the end of a period of study lasting at least 12 years (contact the Italian embassy/consulate in the country where the diploma was issued for more information);

  4. if the diploma was obtained after 11 or 10 years, in order for it to be considered valid for admission to an Italian university, it must be integrated with 1 or 2 years of college or university, with all exams passed. Applicants can then be admitted to the second or third year of a program, respectively;

  5. the International Baccalaureat (IB) diploma is valid for admission to the University, without any Declaration of Value;

  6. the International Baccalaureat certificate is not valid for admission to an Italian university;

Passing this exam will be verified during the final enrollment in September: if it is not been passed, enrollment will be cancelled,

  8. In order to be considered valid,a U.S. High School diploma must be integrated with either two years of college (with all the exams passed) or one year of college (with all the exams passed) plus four advanced placement tests. For further information, contact the Italian embassy/consulate in the U.S.A.
    Università Bocconi will consider as valid American diplomas that include at least 5 AP courses in different subjects passed with a minimum grade of 3 out of 5. Please see the document attached for a list of subjects recognized by Bocconi.

  9. GCE diplomas are valid only if applicants show they have passed 6 different subjects, 3 of which must be advanced, (A level) and which relate to the program requested. The Declaration of Value is not required.
