Instructions for Wi-Fi Configuration with the Ubuntu Linux 8.04 Operating System (Hardy Heron)

The following steps can be made directly by laptop/PC owners. 

Select the Network Manager in the menu bar, then left-click Connect to Other Wireless Network 

 

1. Type wifi-studenti as "Network Name:", select None for "Wireles Security:" then click on the "Connect" button
   
   
   
   
2. After the connection to the wireless network has been established, the network connection icon will appear in the menu bar
   
   
   
    
3. Settings can be checked by right-clicking the connection icon and selecting Connection Information
   
   
   
    
4. A new window with connection informations will appear
   
   
   
   
5. The status of the wireless network interface can be checked by opening a terminal: Application -> Accessories -> Terminal and typing the following command: iwconfig
    
   
   
    
6. Using the terminal with the command: ifconfig nome_interfaccia you can check the TCP/IP parameters linked to the wireless network interface
