Interview with the Director
The Master of Science in Economics and Management in Arts, Culture, Media and Entertainment is designed to train managers and entrepreneurs willing to have a professional development in the field of the Arts and Cultural industries. In recent decades cultural and creative industries, as well as art institutions, have been playing a central and growing role within the renewal of economies, territories and cities. This role is not only related to their capacity to produce cultural and economic values, but also to their multidimensional action on social and individual ethics, identities, meanings and motivations. A professional management career in these industries can be a fascinating life experience, but requires special training combining cultural passion and knowledge with managerial skills.
Creative and cultural industries such as publishing, television, visual productions, design and fashion, as well as art markets and institutions, in recent years has been shaken by a deep and fast globalisation and transformation of their delivery and production systems. There is an increasing need for new services, new ways to organize and to innovate the traditional roles, and moreover new managerial capabilities in the private and in the public segments of these industries. A new type of highly-qualified manager, administrator and entrepreneur is required. Someone able to connect managerial practices and techniques with a precise understanding of the complexities of artistic and cultural environment. Someone that can be trained at international level in the ACME MSc.
