History and Placement
The PhD Program in Business Administration and Management was established in 1995. The program was directed by Salvatore Vicari from its foundation until 2001, by Anna Grandori until 2002, by Alfonso Gambardella until Fall 2008 and by Gianmario Verona until January 2012.
Arnaldo Camuffo is the current program Director.
The program offers a challenging work environment to about 30 students with a background in management, engineering, economics, psychology and other social sciences. The program, through coursework, seminars and conference participation provides solid foundations in a range of scientific fields (such as strategy, marketing, accounting, entrepreneurship, organization theory, applied economics, statistics and econometrics) and promotes students' efforts in developing their critical skills through discussion with the faculty and leading international scholars involved in teaching and advisory activities.
On the strength of the internationalization effort undertaken by Università Bocconi, the internal faculty of this program is composed of senior and junior researchers with vast international experience. Most of them have international PhDs (e.g. Stanford, Yale, IESE, Wharton, Toulouse and many others), have extensive work experience abroad and regularly publish in top journals such as Management Science, Organization Science, Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Research Policy etc.
The international job placement of our PhDs is a central strategic goal of this program.
