The Department of Decision Sciences, which continues the tradition of the Istituto di Metodi Quantitativi, is a multidisciplinary research community that promotes the use of quantitative methods to study individual and collective decisions, and the economic and social phenomena that they determine.
In the past few decades these methods have revolutionized the social sciences by broadening and deepening their theoretical and empirical scope. The Department's faculty contributes to modern quantitative social sciences through both the theoretical analysis of new mathematical and statistical methods, and their applications to relevant economic and social policy issues.
The Department's faculty publishes in leading international journals and includes members of editorial boards of these journals, as well as recipients of competitive grants from the European Research Council and other granting agencies.
