LSE-Bocconi Double Degree

Highlights

Bocconi and the London School of Economics and Political Science are proud to offer high-caliber students a Double Degree program in European and International Public Policy and Politics, delivered by world-leading experts in public policy and politics. 

Your first year is spent at Bocconi University in Milan, where you will study the MSc Politics and Policy Analysis; your second year will be at the European Institute at LSE in London, where you will study the Msc in European and International Politics and Policy.

The program focuses on European politics and policy-making in an international context, with elective courses that provide a critical assessment of Europe’s role in the world, and spanning the fields of political science, law, economics, social policy and other social sciences. Furthermore, participants will enjoy a unique combination of courses and internships, and will gain research experience while completing their thesis.

At graduation, students will receive the LSE Master of Science in European and International Politics and Policy and the Bocconi MSc in Politics and Policy Analysis. Graduation is expected to be at Bocconi in the December session at the end of the II year.

Applicants to this program are required to complete a specific application.

Funding and Scholarships

Students participating in this Double Degree program will be eligible for funding available to Bocconi Master of Science students during the first year and LSE funding and scholarships for the second year.

Moreover, students in this program may also be eligible for the Ceresio Scholarship, the first Double Degree scholarship established by a Bocconi donor: thanks to a donation made by Ceresio Investors - Famiglia Foglia, this two-year financial aid provides funding for both years of the program.

First Year (at Bocconi)

Block seminar / workshop
Dedicated to the students enrolled and jointly organized by the faculty from both institutions

First Semester
Main topics:

  • Quantitative Methods for Policy Analysis
  • Comparative Politics
  • Functioning of Public  Sector
  • Public Economics

Students learn the key concepts of political theories and phenomena in a comparative perspective as well as quantitative methods for theoretical (game theory) and empirical (statistics and econometrics) analysis regarding politics and public policy, and the organization of public administration and its interaction with political systems 

Second Semester
Main topics:

  • Legal Aspects of Policy Making
  • International Relations
  • Population Dynamics and Demography

Students acquire advanced knowledge of international relations, they become familiar with the legal and institutional aspects of negotiation and implementation of international agreements, and they understand the crucial role of population dynamics and demographic changes (such as aging, migration, fertility and the evolution of gender roles)  on political behavior and on the policy making process  

Second Year at LSE (London) - MSc in European and International Politics and Policy

Core

  • Evidence and Analysis in Policy-making

    Applied Regression Analysis

Students choose 2 from the following courses:

  • European Policy-Making and International Cooperation
  • European Integration from a Global Governance Perspective
  • Analytical Politics and Policy Making in Europe
